WHAT
THEY SAY
Below is a letter written to Larry upon completion of an
individual reaching their goal.
Larry,
I just wanted to let you know how much I appreciated
your coaching and guidance over the past 12 weeks. When
we spoke in June, I told you that I wanted to get back
into shape and participate in my first triathlon. You
helped me accomplish both goals - with the results
surpassing my wildest expectations.
The detailed daily work out plan you laid out for me at
the beginning of my training (and the tweaks made
throughout) was spot on. You identified my strengths
and weaknesses and helped me improve on both. You also
tuned into my competitive nature early on and helped
reign it in so I wouldn’t burn out, peak too early, or
suffer an injury before my race. Most importantly, you
were mindful of my arthritic hip and limited my
running. I am happy to report that my hip did not act
up once all summer!
In addition to the training plan, I can not express how
much your encouragement, insight, positive feedback and
motivation helped me throughout my training, especially
on race day. I’m extremely proud that I didn’t quit on
Saturday. It would have been very easy for me to throw
in the towel when I panicked and tanked the swim portion
of the triathlon, but I didn’t, and a lot of that has to
do with you. I battled hard and ended up with a very
respectable finish for my first triathlon. I have to
tell you, I thought you were out of your mind during the
last 2 weeks of my training when you told me to start
meditating daily and think about every aspect of the
race from beginning to end. I did it begrudgingly, but
have to admit, it helped me tremendously.
Finally, you had asked me several weeks ago if I felt
like a triathlete and I said not yet. Well, I can
proudly say that, yes Larry, I am a triathlete.
Thank you for everything!
